The Short Answer: While Dubai tap water generally meets source safety standards, the journey through tanks and pipes can introduce chlorine and minerals that may contribute to hair dryness, buildup, and hard-water breakage.

Customers usually ask this question because they notice rough hair, dry scalp, scale on shower glass, or reduced soap performance. Those symptoms often point to hardness, chlorine exposure, or both.
Point-of-use or whole-house treatment
For shower-specific complaints, a dedicated shower filter can be the best starting point. For villas and properties with broader scale problems, whole-house jumbo filtration or water softening is usually more effective.
DEWA water quality at the source is not the full story. Water can pick up issues through storage tanks, internal plumbing, residual chlorine, and hardness-related mineral load before it reaches the shower.

Direct Answer: In many Dubai neighborhoods, Total Dissolved Solids can range from about 250 to 600+ ppm at the point of use.
